Friday night, a Calcasieu Parish Jury found El Jerico Bartie, Lake Charles, guilty as charged on 8 counts attempted first degree murder of a police officer.
Bartie faced trial for the second time for a standoff at a hotel in 2014. He was convicted by a judge in his first trial, but an appeals court found no evidence that Bartie understood he waived his right to a trial by jury.
Sentencing is set for June 21, 2021.
First Assistant District Attorney Jacob Johnson and Assistant District Attorney Charles Robinson prosecuted the case for the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office.
