Maurice Nelson Sentenced to Three Years for Attempted Manslaughter

On January 13, 2015 Judge Sharon Wilson sentenced Maurice Nelson to three years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections. Nelson was convicted of Attempted Manslaughter on December 2, 2014.

The jury convicted Nelson of shooting a man several times in the parking lot of Bethel Metropolitan Baptist Church before chasing him down Enterprise Boulevard. The incident happened on June 27, 2012. Nelson shot the victim twice.

Captain Arnold Bellow handled the case for the Lake Charles Police Department.

Assistant District Attorney Bobby Holmes prosecuted the case for the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office.
