Peter LeFuria Sentenced to Prison

On January 8, 2014, Peter LaFuria pleaded guilty to 20 counts of criminal activity. Those 20 counts included five counts of sexual battery, five counts of molestation of a juvenile, five counts of video voyeurism and five counts of obscenity.

 

Judge David Ritchie sentenced LaFuria to a total of 23 years in prison, with 15 of those years suspended. LaFuria was sentenced to eight years in prison on each count of sexual battery, eight years in prison on each count of molestation of a juvenile, five years in prison on each count of video voyeurism and three years in prison on each count of obscenity. The charges of sexual battery, molestation of a juvenile and video voyeurism will run concurrently, while the obscenity charges will run consecutively. LaFuria’s prison sentence is to be served at hard labor with the Department of Corrections. Judge Ritchie also ordered LaFuria to pay $5,000 in fines for the obscenity charges and $25,000 to the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office and the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office for the cost of prosecution.

 

Following LaFuria’s prison sentence, he will be on five years supervised probation and be required to register as a sex offender.
