Mauricio Cumbrera Guilty of Two Counts of Second Degree Murder

On September 6, 2013, a jury found Mauricio Garcia Cumbrera guilty of two counts of Second Degree Murder. Cumbrera was convicted in a September 2011 double murder of family members.

 

Judge Michael Canaday sentenced Cumbrera to serve two life sentences in the Department of Corrections at hard labor. He will not have the benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence. Judge Canaday ordered the life sentences to run consecutive to each other.

 

Assistant District Attorney Rick Bryant prosecuted the case for the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office.
