David Caleb Fontenot Sentenced to Life in Prison

On April 23, 2014 Judge Kent Savoie sentenced David Caleb Fontenot to life in prison for Second Degree Murder and an additional 50 years in prison to run concurrent for Attempted Second Degree Murder. A jury convicted Fontenot of both charges on March 26, 2014.
Fontenot will serve his sentence at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections without the benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.


Fontenot was convicted of murder and attempted murder following an April 2011 incident that left Stephin Bergeron dead. The crime occured on Highway 27 near Jerry's Marine.
Detective Andree Daugereaux served as lead in the case for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office.


Assistant District Attorney Rick Bryant handled the case for the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney's Office.
